About Our Preschool

​​Established in 1948, the beachside Parkdale Preschool is a vibrant, community-minded service. Wholly owned and run by a parent-led committee, the kindergarten is experienced in delivering a three-year-old group and two government-funded four-year-old groups.  Our families work in partnership with teachers to ensure the preschool year is a positive learning experience that nurtures each child.

Each child is supported and challenged to grow and learn at their own pace in a safe, warm, caring and most importantly fun environment.  Our pre-schoolers are encouraged to explore and investigate our learning spaces, both indoors and out, which are rich with natural and man-made materials. They are encouraged to be independent in making their own choices and be actively engaged in their own learning.

Expert visitors are invited in to the three and four-year-old programs to share experiences and topics including dance, drama, dinosaurs, healthy eating and road safety. The four-year-old groups also venture out on excursions such as to the local pool for a water awareness day, story-time at the library and discovering sea life at Rickett’s Point.

At Parkdale Preschool we also offer an additional two specialist experiences into our curriculum program. 

The specialist Neighbourhood Explores session are integrated into weekly sessions during term 3 & 4 , for our four-year-old groups to extend our children’s educational experiences. 

Our Kitchen Garden program is offered to all children, in both the three year old and four year old groups, at regular times through the year, to encourage learning about growth and gardening seasons, sustainability practices and nutrition.

Parkdale Preschool exceeds ​national standards

Parkdale Preschool has been rated as Exceeding National Quality Standard, placing the sessional kindergarten among the nation’s best.

​Parkdale Preschool was the only preschool in their enrolment radius to have received a clean sweep - exceeding in all seven assessment areas.
